The Trakai Journal as a Source of Research on the History of Trakai Local Government and Karaim Society in Trakai in the years 1918–1927

Abstract
The Trakai Journal, prepared by representatives of the local authorities on the occasion of the visit to Trakai of President Ignacy Moscicki and which is currently in private hands, is a valuable source of information on city life, including the life of the Karaim community, describing events from the years 1918–1927. Details on the President’s visit of 4th of July 1927, which was the main motivation for preparing this record, offers an accurate insight into the circumstances in which the treasury box was received as a gift for keeping royal privileges.

i Rządu. Przewodnicząca Zarządu Związku Karaimów Polskich i członek Zarządu Fundacji Karaimskie Dziedzictwo. Wydawca i redaktor naczelny historyczno-społeczno-kulturalnego kwartalnika karaimskiego „Awazymyz”. Swe zainteresowania badawcze skupia przede wszystkim na antroponimii karaimskiej, karaimskim życiu społecznym, a także na historii społeczności karaimskich w Trokach i Wilnie w XIX i XX w. oraz w powojennej Polsce.
