Project: “A Series of Events Devoted to Prof. Ananiasz Zajączkowski and Karaim Culture in Poland”

Abstract
In 2024– 2025, the Andrzej Wawrzyniak Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw and the Association of Polish Karaims ran “[a] series of events dedicated to Prof. Ananiasz Zajączkowski and Karaim culture in Poland”, co-financed by the Ministry’s Social Responsibility of Science programme. Co-ordinated by Karolina Krzywicka and supervised by Mariola Abkowicz, it examined Zajączkowski’s legacy and Karaim heritage. Events: “Prof. Ananiasz Zajączkowski – turkolog i orientalista” (Nov 2024); Prof. Michał Németh, “(Re)konstrukcja Biblii w języku karaimskim…” (Mar 2025); “Słowo, taniec i śpiew…” (Apr 2025); and the conference “Prof. Ananiasz Zajączkowski i dziedzictwo kulturowe Karaimów w Polsce” (Nov 2025). Papers will appear in Almanach Karaimski and Awazymyz. Outputs also included a scholarly compilation of a digitized archive of over 450 photographs from Maria Emilia Zajączkowska-Łopatto (prepared by historian Magdalena Jakubowska) and filmed interviews on the Museum’s social media.

A researcher of Central Asian culture and art, particularly that of Turkic peoples. Curator of exhibitions such as "Silks, felts and carnelians. Central Asia costumes from the collection of the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw", "Blue and turquoise. Traditional Uzbek and Tajik ceramics from the collection of the Asia and Pacific Museum in Warsaw", "Ethnic Jewellery of Afghanistan", "Colours of Life. Suzani - embroidered textiles from Central Asia", "Turkmens. The Art of Everyday Life" and "The Power of Silver. Traditional jewelry from Arab countries". Member of the Polish Institute of World Art Studies and the World Society for the Study, Preservation and Popularization of the Cultural Legacy of Uzbekistan.
